Description
If your original Transmission Control Module (TCM) has completely failed and is beyond repair, the most cost-effective solution is purchasing a used donor unit. However, modern ZF transmissions are heavily integrated into the vehicle’s anti-theft system. If you simply install a used TCM from another car, the transmission will remain locked, and the vehicle will not drive. How the TCM Virginize Process Works
When you ship us a used transmission computer, our technicians access the internal EEPROM and flash memory. We meticulously erase the previous vehicle’s VIN, immobilizer data (ISN), and transmission adaptations. Important Notice: This service covers the hardware reset (virginizing) ONLY. Shipping Instructions
To ensure safe transit and keep your shipping costs to a minimum, DO NOT ship the entire hydraulic valve body. Carefully unbolt and remove the plastic TCM plate from the assembly and send the computer only. After the rebuilt unit is installed and programmed, use a dedicated OBD2 scanner to clear any residual diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
