Description

Welcome to our professional Mercedes 7g TCM sensors repair service. The 7-Speed (722.9) automatic transmission is an advanced gearbox, but it suffers from a very common manufacturing design flaw. Over time, the internal speed sensors fail, causing the transmission to hold on to gears for too long before violently banging into place. Our specialized re-manufacturing service provides a permanent fix for this rough and jerky gear change.

Why You Need Our 722.9 Speed Sensor Repair Service

In the Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic system, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is fully integrated into the conductor plate. These control modules are uniquely coded to the vehicle’s immobilizer system and chassis, meaning it is impossible to simply install a second-hand unit from another car without complex reprogramming.

When we rebuild your original transmission control unit, we retain all of your original programming. This means that once you receive the repaired conductor plate back from us, it is completely plug-and-play! You simply reinstall it, clear the old codes, and drive away. Furthermore, we use upgraded, heavy-duty components to fix the factory design flaw, ensuring the issue never returns.

Common 7G-Tronic Drivability Symptoms

If your Mercedes is exhibiting the following symptoms, your internal speed sensors are likely failing:

  • Intermittently not changing gears (getting stuck in one gear).
  • Gearbox suddenly goes into “limp-home” mode.
  • Harsh or delayed shifting, especially when the transmission warms up.
  • Vehicle refuses to select certain gears entirely.

Supported Diagnostic Fault Codes (DTCs)

Our comprehensive Mercedes 7g TCM sensors repair covers the following specific speed sensor fault codes. (Please provide your codes when ordering):

  • Y3/8N1 Turbine Speed Sensor Codes: 0715, 0717, 0718, 2204, 2205
  • Y3/8N2 Internal Speed Sensor Codes: 2200, 2201, 2766, 2767, 2768
  • Y3/8N3 Output Speed Sensor Codes: 0720, 0721, 0722, 0723, 2206, 2207, 2550

Application and Service Terms

This repair service applies to the VGS1, VGS2, and VGS3 versions of the 722.9 conductor plate.
Important Note: Our service DOES NOT cover the newer Continental 722.9 TCM VGS4 version.

After refitting the module, you may need a universal or dedicated OBD2 scanner to clear the old DTCs from the system. If your module has a “no communication” error (the scanner cannot read the TCM at all), it may be completely dead. In that case, you might need our Mercedes 7G TCM Programming / Unlock Service to code a donor replacement. Not all modules can be fixed. Unrepairable computers will be returned with a refund, minus a $100 diagnostic fee and return shipping costs.
