Description
If you own a 2009-2016 MINI Cooper and recently experienced a dead battery, replaced the battery, or jump-started the vehicle, you may suddenly find your car’s lighting and window systems completely unresponsive. This is a very common issue caused by EEPROM software corruption inside the FRM3 (Footwell Module). Dealerships will usually tell you the module is “fried” and quote over $1,000 for a replacement and programming. Our mini cooper frm3 repair service recovers your original module for a fraction of the cost.
Fixing the MINI FRM3 Footwell Module
When the voltage drops suddenly, the sensitive FRM3 module loses its internal partition data. With our frm3 recovery service, our engineers manually rebuild your module’s corrupted software partition. We recover your exact original coding, VIN, and vehicle order (VO). Once you receive the repaired module back in the mail, you simply plug it in and everything works—no expensive dealer re-coding is required!
*Note: If the module you send us is not originally from your car (e.g., a junkyard replacement), we can flash it to a “virgin” factory state. You will then need to have a BMW/MINI specialist code it to your car’s specifications. Please contact us if you need this specific scenario.
Clearing Software Short Circuits
As an added bonus, our mini frm footwell module repair includes the removal of any stored “software shorts.” If a lighting component in your MINI experiences a physical short circuit multiple times, the FRM3 will permanently disable that circuit at the software level to prevent a fire. Even if you fix the wiring or replace the bulb, the light will not turn back on until the FRM3 is reset. We clear these software locks during our repair process. (Make sure you have physically repaired the shorted wire/bulb on your car, otherwise the FRM3 will lock it out again!)
Common FRM3 Failure Symptoms
If your FRM3 module has failed due to software corruption, you will typically experience the following:
- Lighting Failure: Headlights stay on constantly and cannot be turned off, while turn signals and interior lights stop working completely.
- Window Failure: Power windows refuse to roll up or down.
- No Communication: Your OBD2 diagnostic scanner cannot communicate with or read the FRM (Footwell) module at all.
